About Me

Hi my name is Will Murphy.  I am a native Oregonian and am very proud to call Oregon my home.  Before becoming a mortgage advisor here at Finance of America Mortgage, I was a was a student athlete at the University of Oregon where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. After my time at the U of O, I went on to play professional football with the Philadelphia Eagles. These experiences taught me the value of working hard to achieve goals and the power of teamwork.

For three years I have been serving my friends and family all over the state as a mortgage lending professional here at Finance of America. My mission is to help take the mystery out of the home buying or refinancing process.  I will work with you throughout the process to help you secure the best financing available based on your wants and needs.  I promise to communicate with you from beginning to end – keeping you informed every step of the way.

Whether you are a first time homebuyer or refinancing your existing home, I want to be a part of your team. I will work hard for you and will do so with honestly and integrity.  Give me a call and let’s talk!

My husband & I just purchased our first home and had no idea what to expect when it came to the home buying process. Will Murphy wasn't just helpful, he was also supportive, responsive and genuine! We could have not done this without someone we trusted and respected. Since this was our first time buying, we had a lot of questions. Some of which might have been no-brainers, but Will answered all of them with such confidence and clarity. Thank you!!!

Frequently Asked Questions

How many properties should I look at?

The total number of properties you may look at will depend on several factors, such as your budget and the housing availability in your area. In general, real estate agents recommend that homebuyers look at several properties before making a decision, but there is not an exact number. Most people look at 10 homes, at a minimum, so they can compare them. However, you may find the dream house with more or fewer searches.

What is the best way to search for homes?

When it comes to the best home buying tips, there are different ways to search for properties. Statistics from the National Association of REALTORS® reveal that 51 percent of buyers searched and found their homes on the internet, while 30 percent used real estate agents. Other ways to search for homes include asking friends, relatives, neighbors and homebuilders for help. A small percentage of homebuyers used newspaper advertisements and yard or open house signs to search for homes.

Should I get pre-approval before making an offer?

Although a pre-approval is not one of the required steps to buying a house, it can certainly help you stand out in a competitive market with many buyers. A pre-approval can show sellers that you’re serious and capable of getting a mortgage, so they may be more likely to accept your offer.
